Description

Trajan, 109-110 AD. Æ drachm, 21.68 gr., 36.1 mm.

Obv: ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ CEΒ ΓEΡΜ ΔΑΚΙΚ; laureate bust of Trajan to the right, aegis on far shoulder.

Rev: sphinx-like composite creature, the god Tutu, with a serpent tail, the body of a lion, the head of a crocodile emerging from its chest, and, on its shoulders, a human head wearing a modified hemhem crown, treading to the right on a serpent; in top left field: LIΓ (= year 13).

Very rare. An extraordinary reverse type. Rough surfaces. Good very fine.
